Fabmatics GmbH
Fabmatics GmbH, with its headquarters in Dresden, is an experienced specialist for the automation of material flows and handling processes in high-tech production environments. Fabmatics is the result of the merger of HAP Handhabungs-, Automatisierungs- und Präzisionstechnik GmbH Dresden and Roth & Rau - Ortner GmbH along with its American subsidiary Roth & Rau - Ortner USA, Inc.
Both predecessor companies have their origins in the semiconductor industry where they have been implementing automation projects with great success for more than 20 years. This has also created a strong market position for the modernisation of 200mm semiconductor factories around the world. Owner-managed Fabmatics, including its subsidiary Fabmatics USA Inc. located in Sandy, Utah, does business around the world. Fabmatics is a member of global industry association SEMI, of the high-tech network Silicon Saxony e.V. and the AND Automation Network Dresden.
Fabmatics does business around the world and currently has some 160 employees, generating sales of some € 25 million.
Role
As an automation solution provider Fabmatics will make significant contributions in the field of autonomous mobile robots for intralogistics automation within semiconductor fabs. In work package 4 Fabmatics will lead objective 4.1 “Swarm Intelligence” with the main goal to understand the complexity arising from using multiple Self Navigating Systems (SNS) of same or different type, to identify focus research topics and to create solutions for control, tracking, communication and collaboration of a swarm of SNS within its production environment.
Key contribution
Fabmatics will provide concepts and solutions for multi machine collaboration for mobile robotics conrolled by intelligent central and distributed fleet management. Specific fleet management focus research topics will be for example smart dispatching solutions for optimal AGV selection, robot tracking and monitoring, fleet visualization and control algorithms of multi-type fleets of robots including intelligent integration into customer’s fab host software architecture. Additionally machine-machine and robot-robot communication and cooperation solutions will be developed.
